Memories of Harvey Rd. The cloth reminds me of the sofa at my dear aunt and uncle’s house on Harvey Rd – feelings of warmth and comfort, of a safe place. Truly one of a kind as the hand painted nature of the base cannot be replicated.

All hand dyed, the base (warp) of the cloth is a multi coloured mix of deep burgundy, vibrant gold, greys, greens and warm red. The warp appears hand painted, with the colours interspersing throughout. It is woven in a bottle green. Each side of the shawl is different: one side the green is dominant, the other the multi coloured warp. This gives movement to the cloth and can be versatile in wearing.

The combination of silk and Merino give this cloth an elegant and refined feel. It is light, but has tremendous drape and hand. The perfect companion for sitting on the veranda in the evening or morning, drinking coffee or sipping wine coolers! Perfect for an evening out, or snuggling on the sofa or deck. You could wear this draped off to the side, held with a pin or brooch.

The shawl is silky soft, drapey and warm. It has been hand washed and dried, then pressed.

Materials: Extra fine Silk NZ Merino (85% Merino, 15% Mulberry silk). Hand dyed, hand twisted fringe. Hand wash only.

This one-off piece is Work 270. I rarely weave exactly the same cloth or item twice. Every piece is unique and numbered, every creation has a story to tell.

A sumptuous fibre blend of 85% New Zealand merino and 15% Mulberry silk. The fine 22 micron Merino and the lustre of the silk makes this a truly luxurious blend. Silk has a beautiful sheen and Merino offers lightweight warmth making any piece a delight to wear.

The fibres of Merino are softer, finer and more sensitive than many other fibres – the main difference to other wools. Silk is lightweight and very durable, well known for its soft and smooth feel. Silk is also made of completely natural fibres and is known as a luxury fabric, similar to cashmere.

Dimensions: width 24 3/4″ – 63cm // length w/o fringe 66″ – 168cm // fringe 4 1/2″ – 11cm.
