The base of the shawl is soft organic cotton. The off-white stripes are actually a combination of different shades to create movement in the cloth. There are 3 broader and 1 narrower stripe in turquoise, red, black and green. The shawl was woven in natural pure extra fine Merino yarn using an extended twill.
The perfect companion for sitting on the veranda in the evening or morning, drinking coffee or sipping wine coolers! Perfect for an evening out, or snuggling on the sofa or deck. You could wear this belted across the front only, creating a boho style with jeans and boots. Or draped off to the side, held with a pin or brooch.
The shawl is squishy soft, drapey and warm. It has been hand washed and dried, then pressed.

This one-off piece is Work 257. I rarely weave exactly the same cloth or item twice. Every piece is unique and numbered, every creation has a story to tell.
Organic cotton is yarn made from cotton that’s grown and processed using environmentally-friendly methods. These methods typically exclude the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Cotton is a natural fibre that is soft, breathable and absorbent. Cotton can be cool, yet offer warmth, is strong, and can stand up against abrasion wear and high temperature. In one word, cotton is comfortable.
The Merino wool I use has been farmed, processed, milled and spun in the South Island of NZ. This is the highest quality undyed base yarn I can buy in NZ. Merino wool comes from our Merino sheep and is renowned for its exceptional properties: its fantastic softness, durability, cooling/heating and breathability. The fibres of Merino are softer, finer and more sensitive than many other fibres – the main difference to other wools.
