Persepolis. Inspired by the grand ceremonial tiled palace floors of ancient Iranian nobility.

Using the pure natural silk merino and a night blue hand dyed strand, the warp and weft of the shawl is the same. This is woven in a shadow weave = similar to French seams in sewing where seams are double sewn, each row is woven first in one colour, then again in its shadow colour. In addition to this the rows were staggered to create depth in the cloth.

The perfect companion for sitting on the veranda in the evening or morning, drinking coffee or sipping wine coolers! Perfect for an evening out, or snuggling on the sofa or deck. You could wear this draped off to the side, held with a pin or brooch.

The shawl is squishy soft, drapey and warm. It has been hand washed and dried, then pressed.

Materials: Extra fine Silk NZ merino (85% Merino, 15% Mulberry silk). Hand dyed, hand twisted fringe. Hand wash only.

This one-off piece is Work 264. I rarely weave exactly the same cloth or item twice. Every piece is unique and numbered, every creation has a story to tell.

A sumptuous fibre blend of 85% New Zealand merino and 15% Mulberry silk. The fine 22 micron Merino and the lustre of the silk makes this a truly luxurious blend. Silk has a beautiful sheen and Merino offers lightweight warmth making any piece a delight to wear.

The fibres of Merino are softer, finer and more sensitive than many other fibres – the main difference to other wools. Silk is lightweight and very durable, well known for its soft and smooth feel. Silk is also made of completely natural fibres and is known as a luxury fabric, similar to cashmere.

Dimensions: width 26″ – 66cm // length w/o fringe 71″ – 180cm // fringe 4 1/2″ – 12cm.
