Paul’s Plaid 11: Trip to west Texas. Handwoven silky bamboo. Another entry in my design series inspired by and in remembrance of the shirts worn by my father. This scarf is woven in the colours of the plaid shirt my father wore on our road trip to west Texas. I remember sitting in the back seat, staring at the collar!
This gender neutral scarf is woven from a super soft bamboo in 2 colours: a soft mocha brown (a lighter version of the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse) and a soft sky blue. Additional ultra fine bamboo threads were added to areas and woven in a lace pattern throughout.
The scarf drapes and has weight. It is very slinky silky soft. This would lovely draped over your shoulders or lightly secured with a brooch or pin. Can be worn tied in a French knot, traditional tie, or wrapped around your neck.
The scarf has been hand washed and pressed.
Materials: Bamboo Rayon. Hand twisted fringe. Hand wash only. Minimal iron.

This one-off piece is Work 261. I rarely weave the exact same cloth or item twice. Every piece is unique and numbered, every creation has a story to tell.
Bamboo doesn’t form fibre on its own (as opposed to cotton). Bamboo is basically always organic, it is one of the most fastest growing plants and therefore never needs any herbicides. When manufacturing bamboo rayon, some chemicals always have to be used, these are however properly removed from the fibre after finishing the process. Originally invented as an alternative to expensive silk fabrics, rayon is sometimes described as “artificial silk,” because it usually has a silky-soft texture. However, rayon is much less expensive than silk, not to mention more eco-friendly. Rayon from bamboo remains soft, resists pilling, and maintains its smooth surface wash after wash. It is moisture-wicking & avoids clinging, keeping you comfortable all-year round, and is very comfortable for those with allergies & sensitivities.
