Chinese Checkers. Handwoven shawl inspired by my childhood game board. Little shapes of super soft merino.

Five different shades of grey were used in the warp of the shawl – from the light of white to the dark of charcoal. The shawl was woven in shades of coral red, golden yellow, corn yellow, greys and white. The weave structure is tiny diamonds and squares. The blocks of colours create movement in the cloth.

The perfect companion for sitting on the veranda in the evening or morning, drinking coffee or sipping wine coolers! Perfect for an evening out, or snuggling on the sofa or deck. It can be worn as a boho poncho with belt, as a stole, or wrap. The large size is perfect for cuddling in to, offering comfort to the wearer.

The shawl is extremely squishy soft, drapey and warm.

The shawl has been hand washed and dried, then pressed.

Materials: 100% fine NZ merino. Hand twisted fringe. Hand wash only.

This one-off piece is Work 170. I never weave the same cloth or item twice. Every piece is unique and numbered, every creation has a story to tell.

Merino wool comes from our Merino sheep and is renowned for its exceptional properties: its fantastic softness, durability, cooling/heating and breathability. The fibres of Merino are softer, finer and more sensitive than many other fibres – the main difference to other wools.
