The me in me@pksews.com

My name is PK Maracin and I have lived in beautiful Central Otago for almost 15 years. I have been sewing for over 50 years (gasp!), learning at a very young age. Every time we had electives at school I took sewing (that is the reason I cannot cook!). I have sewn everything from clothes to baby things to home furnishings to sleeping bags. Over the years I have advanced my skills with couture and high end techniques to create beautiful finished pieces.
I think sewing is the most valuable tool. It enables you to become the person you want to be and surround yourself with things you love. Some things you make are for fun and whimsy, others for a lifetime. I teach beginning and advanced sewing at REAP Central Otago, and also offer small group sewing classes myself and through Arts Central. I am Chair of the annual ACE Visual Arts Exhibition, and also in charge of the Cromwell Sewing Guild (part of the Central Otago Combined Arts & Crafts Society).
In my studio I weave on a Louët David 8 shaft floor loom, and on the portable RHL at markets. The shawls and wraps I design are one-offs, and I also incorporate these cloths in garments. I use mostly fine high end NZ merino that I hand dye, but am also fond of possum, mohair silk and linen – and you can’t beat 8/2 cotton for tea towels.

Any pieces for sale are one-offs. I do not produce in multiples and create only individual items, even if part of a series. I welcome commissions and while I cannot duplicate an item, I can make something similar just for you.
